At typical ski resort rental shops, staff usually provide gear based on standard manuals using your stance, height, and foot size—but without fine-tuning.
In contrast, at BRIO, which is directly run by our ski school, instructors carefully make adjustments to ensure the rental gear fits you perfectly before handing it over.
Binding Adjustment for Each Boot
The device that connects your boots to the snowboard is called a "binding" (from English) or "bindung" (from German).
For example, both 24cm and 25cm boots may use the same size S binding, but the toe and heel balance differs by size. We make fine adjustments so your boots are centered on the board each time.
When your boot size changes, so does the outer shape. We also adjust the binding straps to align properly with the center of the boot.
Proper Fit of Wear and Boots
At BRIO, we also assist with ensuring your wear is worn correctly and your boots are tightened properly.
A common mistake is the powder guard getting tucked inside the boots, which indicates the wear isn't worn properly.
Loose boots often result in poor control on the snowboard. Fixing these issues after the lesson starts can reduce your valuable lesson time.
Team Rescue Wax
Some beginners may think, “If wax makes you go faster, maybe I don’t need it.” In reality, wax is essential and extremely important.
It may sound surprising, but boards without wax can completely stop on snow, even on a slope—they just don’t glide.
Think of it like riding a bicycle.
It’s harder to keep your balance when you're going very slowly. A moderate speed actually gives you more stability.
The same goes for skiing and snowboarding. A gentle slope with proper waxing allows better control and a safer experience even for beginners.
All BRIO rental boards are maintained using
Team Rescue Wax.
As a sport enjoyed in nature, we prioritize eco-friendly waxes that are fluorine-free.
Boards with the “Super Musou” (polyethylene coating) will have a special sticker—please check your BRIO rental board for this mark.
Depending on conditions, we may also apply liquid wax or special spring wax to counteract melting snow and pollen for optimal glide.
Your lesson will be 2 hours long and will start once your rental and changing are complete.
Even if the start is delayed, the lesson will end by 12:00 / 16:00, so please be aware.
On weekdays, please arrive about 1 hour before the lesson.
On weekends, rentals tend to be crowded, so we recommend arriving at the ski resort about 2 hours in advance for peace of mind.
These optional services are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed in advance.
If available, we will inform you on the day of your visit, and you can pay the additional fee at the resort.
這些選項服務因各種原因無法提前保證一定能提供。
若當日可安排,我們會現場通知,並請您於滑雪場支付額外費用。
Chinese coach or interpreter
There are only a limited number of native Chinese-speaking instructors, and they are not available every day.
Some Japanese instructors may not be fluent in daily English conversation, but they are proficient in basic sports-related English.
Most guests are satisfied with their guidance, so please feel confident.
All day lesson / One-on-one
Available only when there are no other bookings and instructors are free.
Normally, one coach teaches up to 3 guests.
With the one-on-one option, each guest will have a personal instructor.
In this case, the lesson fee will be multiplied by the number of guests.
Mountaintop tour
This tour requires All day lesson and One-on-one options to be selected together.
Please ensure you check all three options.
You’ll practice the basics in the morning, then enjoy the mountaintop view in the afternoon, followed by a long downhill run with the instructor supporting you.
Please note that the tour may be canceled in case of bad weather or insufficient snow.
Senior instructors
Certified by the Japan SnowBoard Association as Class A, B, or C instructors.
If an A or B level instructor is available, we will prioritize assigning them to your lesson.
